Manuel Godoy
Manuel Godoy was a Spanish politician and military leader born on May 12, 1767. He served as the Prime Minister of Spain from 1792 to 1797 and was a key figure during the reign of King Charles IV. Godoy was known for his efforts to modernize Spain and navigate the challenges posed by the French Revolution.
Despite his initial popularity, Godoy faced criticism and opposition, particularly from the nobility and military. His policies and alliances, especially with Napoleon Bonaparte, led to his eventual downfall. He resigned in 1798 and lived in exile until his death on October 4, 1851.
