Mangla Dam
Mangla Dam is one of the largest earth-filled dams in the world, located on the Jhelum River in Pakistan. Completed in 1967, it was built primarily for irrigation, flood control, and hydroelectric power generation. The dam has a height of 147 meters and a reservoir capacity of about 1.88 million acre-feet.
The Mangla Dam plays a crucial role in supporting agriculture in the region by providing water for irrigation. It also contributes to the national grid by generating electricity, with a total installed capacity of 1,000 megawatts. The dam is an important infrastructure project for Pakistan, enhancing water management and energy supply.
