Majoritarian Voting
Majoritarian voting is a democratic system where the candidate or option that receives the most votes wins. This method is often used in elections, where the goal is to reflect the preference of the majority of voters. In a simple majority system, a candidate only needs to secure more votes than any other candidate, not necessarily a majority of the total votes.
In contrast, a plurality voting system allows for a winner even if they receive less than half of the total votes, as long as they have more votes than their opponents. Majoritarian voting aims to ensure that the elected representative has the support of the majority, promoting a sense of legitimacy in the electoral process.
