Mahakam
The Mahakam River is one of the longest rivers in Indonesia, flowing through the eastern part of the island of Borneo. It stretches approximately 980 kilometers and is vital for transportation, trade, and fishing in the region. The river supports various ecosystems and is home to diverse wildlife, including the endangered Irawaddy dolphin.
The Mahakam River also plays a significant role in the local economy, particularly for the Dayak people, who rely on it for their livelihoods. The river's basin is rich in natural resources, including coal and natural gas, making it an important area for both local communities and industries.
