Irawaddy dolphin
The Irawaddy dolphin is a unique species of dolphin found in several countries in Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, and Cambodia. Unlike many other dolphins, they have a rounded forehead and lack a beak, giving them a distinct appearance. They inhabit freshwater rivers, lakes, and coastal areas, often preferring shallow waters.
These dolphins are known for their playful behavior and can often be seen swimming in small groups. The Irawaddy dolphin is considered vulnerable due to habitat loss, pollution, and fishing practices that threaten their populations. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this remarkable species.
