Madrid System
The Madrid System is an international system for registering trademarks. It allows businesses to protect their trademarks in multiple countries through a single application, simplifying the process and reducing costs. Managed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), it facilitates the registration of trademarks in over 100 member countries.
To use the Madrid System, a trademark owner must first file an application in their home country. This initial application serves as the basis for international registration. Once approved, the trademark is protected in all designated countries, making it easier for businesses to expand globally while safeguarding their brand identity.
