Macedonian conflict
The Macedonian conflict primarily refers to the disputes over the name and identity of the region of Macedonia, which is located in the Balkan Peninsula. This conflict mainly involves Greece and North Macedonia, with Greece objecting to the use of the name "Macedonia" by its northern neighbor, as it is also the name of a historical region in Greece.
In 2018, the two countries reached an agreement known as the Prespa Agreement, which allowed North Macedonia to change its name from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to its current name. This agreement aimed to resolve long-standing tensions and improve relations between the two nations.
