Prespa Agreement
The Prespa Agreement is a treaty signed in June 2018 between Greece and North Macedonia. It aimed to resolve a long-standing dispute over the name "Macedonia," which both countries claimed. Under this agreement, North Macedonia agreed to change its name to the "Republic of North Macedonia," allowing it to pursue NATO and European Union membership.
The agreement also included provisions for improving relations between the two countries, promoting cooperation in various fields, and addressing historical and cultural issues. The Prespa Agreement was seen as a significant step towards stability in the Balkans and enhancing regional cooperation.
