Macadamization
Macadamization is a method of road construction that involves layering small stones to create a durable surface. Named after Scottish engineer John Loudon McAdam, this technique was developed in the early 19th century. The process typically includes a base layer of larger stones, followed by smaller stones that are compacted to form a smooth, stable surface.
This method improves drainage and reduces dust, making roads safer and more comfortable for vehicles. Macadamized roads are often seen in rural areas and were a significant advancement in road engineering, influencing modern road construction techniques used today.
