M38 star cluster
The M38 star cluster, also known as NGC 1912, is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Auriga. It is approximately 4,200 light-years away from Earth and contains around 100 stars. M38 is estimated to be about 220 million years old, making it relatively young in astronomical terms.
This cluster is best observed with binoculars or small telescopes, appearing as a fuzzy patch in the night sky. M38 is often studied alongside other nearby clusters, such as M36 and M37, which are also located in Auriga, providing insights into stellar formation and evolution.
