Müllerian agenesis
Müllerian agenesis, also known as Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome, is a congenital condition where a female is born without a fully developed uterus and upper two-thirds of the vagina. This condition affects the reproductive system and can lead to challenges with menstruation and fertility, as the ovaries are usually normal.
Individuals with Müllerian agenesis may experience normal secondary sexual characteristics, such as breast development and pubic hair, due to functioning ovaries. Diagnosis often occurs during adolescence when menstruation does not begin. Treatment options may include surgical interventions or assisted reproductive technologies for those wishing to conceive.
