Lyman Abbott
Lyman Abbott (1835-1922) was an American theologian, author, and editor known for his influential role in the Congregationalist church. He served as the pastor of the Plymouth Church in Brooklyn, New York, where he became a prominent figure in the social gospel movement, advocating for social justice and reform.
In addition to his pastoral work, Abbott was the editor of the Outlook magazine, where he published articles on religion, politics, and social issues. He wrote several books, including The Theology of an Evolutionist, which explored the relationship between science and faith, reflecting his progressive views on religion.
