Lusignan dynasty
The Lusignan dynasty was a noble family that originated in France and became prominent in the medieval period. They are best known for their rule over the Kingdom of Cyprus from the late 12th century until the late 15th century. The dynasty played a significant role in the Crusades and established strong ties with various European powers.
Members of the Lusignan dynasty also held titles in other regions, including the Kingdom of Jerusalem and parts of modern-day Syria and Lebanon. Their reign was marked by both cultural achievements and conflicts, particularly with the Mamluks and other regional powers, ultimately leading to the decline of their influence.
