Lunokhod program
The Lunokhod program was a series of Soviet robotic lunar rovers designed to explore the Moon's surface. The first successful mission, Lunokhod 1, was launched in 1970 and became the first remote-controlled rover to operate on another celestial body. It transmitted valuable data and images back to Earth, significantly contributing to lunar science.
Following the success of Lunokhod 1, the Lunokhod 2 was launched in 1973, further enhancing our understanding of the Moon's geology and environment. These missions demonstrated the capabilities of robotic exploration and laid the groundwork for future lunar missions, including those by various space agencies around the world.
