Lunokhod 1
Lunokhod 1 was the first successful robotic rover to land on the Moon, launched by the Soviet Union on November 10, 1970. It was part of the Luna program and landed on the Moon's surface on November 17, 1970. The rover was designed to explore the lunar terrain, conduct scientific experiments, and transmit data back to Earth.
The rover measured about 2.5 meters long and weighed approximately 800 kilograms. It was equipped with various scientific instruments, including cameras and soil analysis tools. Lunokhod 1 operated for nearly 11 months, traveling over 10 kilometers and providing valuable information about the Moon's surface and composition.
