Luis Ocaña
Luis Ocaña was a professional cyclist from Spain, born on July 9, 1945, in Cádiz. He is best known for his achievements in road racing during the 1970s, particularly in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. Ocaña won the Tour de France in 1973, becoming the first Spaniard to do so, and he also secured the Vuelta a España title in 1970.
Ocaña was recognized for his climbing abilities and competitive spirit. Throughout his career, he faced tough rivals, including the legendary cyclist Eddy Merckx. Despite his successes, Ocaña's career was marked by injuries and challenges, leading to his retirement in 1978. He passed away on May 19, 1994.
