Lucky Luciano, born Salvatore Lucania in 1897, was an influential Italian-American mobster. He is often regarded as the father of modern organized crime in the United States. Luciano played a key role in the development of the National Crime Syndicate, which united various criminal organizations across the country.
In the 1930s, Luciano was instrumental in establishing the Commission, a governing body for organized crime. His innovative approach to crime, including the use of strategic alliances and a focus on profit over ethnic loyalty, transformed the landscape of the American Mafia. Luciano's criminal activities led to his arrest and eventual deportation to Italy in 1946.
