Lovat Scouts
The Lovat Scouts were a Scottish military unit formed during World War I, originally established in 1900 as a volunteer force. They were named after Simon Fraser, 14th Lord Lovat, who played a significant role in their creation. The unit was known for its expertise in reconnaissance and was one of the first to use the tactics of modern warfare.
During the war, the Lovat Scouts served in various campaigns, including the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Passchendaele. They were recognized for their skills in operating behind enemy lines and gathering intelligence, contributing significantly to the British war effort.
