Louis Philippe II, Duke of Orléans
Louis Philippe II, Duke of Orléans was a prominent French nobleman born on April 13, 1747. He was a member of the House of Orléans, a cadet branch of the House of Bourbon. Known for his progressive views, he supported the ideas of the French Revolution and sought to distance himself from the excesses of the monarchy.
During the revolution, he adopted the title "Philippe Égalité" to emphasize his commitment to equality. He served in the National Assembly and voted for the execution of King Louis XVI. However, his revolutionary stance ultimately led to his downfall, and he was executed by guillotine on November 6, 1793.
