Lord's Resistance Army
The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) is a militant group that originated in northern Uganda in the late 1980s. Founded by Joseph Kony, the LRA initially aimed to establish a theocratic government based on a mix of Christian and African spiritual beliefs. The group is notorious for its brutal tactics, including abductions, forced recruitment of child soldiers, and widespread violence against civilians.
Over the years, the LRA has expanded its operations into neighboring countries such as South Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Central African Republic. Despite international efforts to combat the group, including military interventions and peace negotiations, the LRA remains active, continuing to pose a significant threat to regional stability and security.
