Lodoicea maldivica
Lodoicea maldivica, commonly known as the double coconut, is a palm tree native to the Seychelles. It is renowned for producing the largest seeds of any plant, which can weigh up to 30 kilograms. The tree can grow up to 30 meters tall and has a distinctive appearance with large, fan-shaped leaves.
The double coconut is unique not only for its size but also for its reproductive structure. The tree produces large, round fruits that resemble coconuts, and they take about 6 to 7 years to mature. This species is considered vulnerable due to habitat loss and overharvesting.
