Lod Mosaic
The Lod Mosaic is an ancient Roman mosaic discovered in 1996 in the city of Lod, Israel. Dating back to the 3rd century CE, it is renowned for its intricate designs and vibrant colors, depicting various scenes of wildlife, mythology, and daily life. The mosaic originally adorned the floor of a large villa, showcasing the artistic skills of the period.
Covering an area of approximately 1,500 square meters, the Lod Mosaic is one of the largest and most well-preserved mosaics from the Roman era. It features over 200 different animal species and is considered a significant archaeological find, providing valuable insights into Roman art and culture in the region.
