Locarno Treaties
The Locarno Treaties were a series of agreements signed in 1925 in the Swiss town of Locarno. These treaties aimed to secure peace in Europe after World War I by establishing borders and promoting cooperation among countries. The most significant aspect was the guarantee of the western borders of Germany, France, and Belgium.
The treaties were signed by several European nations, including Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, and the United Kingdom. They were intended to foster stability and prevent future conflicts, but the failure to address eastern borders and the rise of tensions in the 1930s ultimately undermined their effectiveness.
