Linnaea
Linnaea is a genus of flowering plants in the family Caprifoliaceae, named after the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus. It includes several species, with Linnaea borealis being the most well-known. This plant is a low-growing perennial that typically features delicate, bell-shaped flowers and is often found in northern regions, particularly in forests and woodlands.
The plant is notable for its ability to spread through underground rhizomes, forming dense mats. Linnaea borealis is also known as the twinflower, and it has a unique reproductive strategy, producing two flowers on each stem that can self-pollinate or cross-pollinate with nearby plants.
