Lines of Latitude
Lines of latitude are imaginary horizontal lines that run parallel to the Equator. They measure the distance north or south of the Equator in degrees, ranging from 0° at the Equator to 90° at the poles. Each line of latitude is a full circle, and they help in identifying specific locations on the Earth's surface.
These lines are crucial for navigation and mapping. For example, the Tropic of Cancer is located at 23.5° North, while the Tropic of Capricorn is at 23.5° South. Together with lines of longitude, they create a grid system that allows for precise location identification on the globe.
