Limnodromus
Limnodromus is a genus of shorebirds commonly known as sandpipers. These birds are typically found in wetland habitats, such as marshes and mudflats, where they forage for invertebrates and other small prey. They are characterized by their long legs and slender bodies, which help them navigate through shallow waters.
There are several species within the Limnodromus genus, including the Long-billed Dowitcher and the Short-billed Dowitcher. These birds are known for their distinctive feeding behavior, often using a technique called "sewing," where they probe the mud with their bills to find food. Limnodromus species are migratory, traveling long distances between breeding and wintering grounds.
