Limited Scleroderma
Limited scleroderma, also known as CREST syndrome, is a form of scleroderma characterized by skin thickening that primarily affects the fingers, hands, and face. It typically progresses slowly and may involve the development of small blood vessels, leading to symptoms like Raynaud's phenomenon, where fingers and toes become cold and numb in response to cold or stress.
In addition to skin changes, limited scleroderma can affect internal organs, particularly the lungs and digestive system, but these complications usually develop later in the disease. Early diagnosis and management are essential to help control symptoms and improve quality of life for those affected.
