Licchavi
The Licchavi were an ancient ruling dynasty in the region of Nepal, particularly prominent during the 4th to 9th centuries CE. They are known for their contributions to the development of Buddhism and Hinduism in the area, as well as for their patronage of art and architecture. The Licchavi period is often regarded as a golden age for Kathmandu Valley.
The Licchavi dynasty was characterized by a decentralized form of governance, with local rulers known as Mahasamanta overseeing various regions. They established trade routes and fostered economic growth, which helped in the flourishing of urban centers. Their legacy is still evident in the cultural and historical landscape of Nepal today.
