Leptospermum
Leptospermum is a genus of flowering plants in the family Myrtaceae, commonly known as tea trees. These evergreen shrubs and small trees are native to Australia and New Zealand, thriving in a variety of habitats, including coastal areas and forests. They are characterized by their narrow leaves and white or pink flowers, which attract various pollinators.
The leaves of Leptospermum species are often used to produce essential oils, known for their antibacterial and antifungal properties. One well-known species, Leptospermum scoparium, is commonly referred to as the New Zealand tea tree and is popular for its medicinal uses and as an ornamental plant in gardens.
