Lawton IADL scale
The Lawton IADL scale is a tool used to assess an individual's ability to perform Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). These activities include tasks such as managing finances, handling transportation, shopping, preparing meals, and maintaining a household. The scale helps healthcare professionals evaluate a person's functional independence and identify areas where assistance may be needed.
The scale consists of eight items, each representing a specific IADL. Respondents are scored based on their ability to perform these tasks independently. A higher score indicates greater independence, while a lower score suggests a need for support. This assessment is particularly useful for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
