Lateral Ventricles
The lateral ventricles are two large, C-shaped cavities located within the cerebrum of the brain. They are part of the ventricular system, which produces and circulates cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This fluid helps cushion the brain, remove waste, and provide nutrients.
Each lateral ventricle consists of several regions, including the anterior, posterior, and inferior horns. They are connected to the third ventricle through the interventricular foramen, allowing CSF to flow between these spaces. The proper functioning of the lateral ventricles is essential for maintaining brain health and overall neurological function.
