Third Ventricle
The Third Ventricle is a narrow, fluid-filled cavity located in the center of the brain, specifically between the two halves of the thalamus. It plays a crucial role in the brain's ventricular system, which produces and circulates cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that cushions and protects the brain.
This ventricle connects to the lateral ventricles through the interventricular foramen and to the fourth ventricle via the cerebral aqueduct. The proper functioning of the Third Ventricle is essential for maintaining the brain's environment and facilitating communication between different brain regions.
