Cerebral Ventricles
Cerebral ventricles are interconnected cavities located within the brain that contain cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). There are four main ventricles: the two lateral ventricles, the third ventricle, and the fourth ventricle. These structures help cushion the brain, provide nutrients, and remove waste.
The production and circulation of CSF through the cerebral ventricles are essential for maintaining brain health. Any blockage or abnormality in the ventricles can lead to conditions such as hydrocephalus, where excess fluid accumulates, potentially causing increased pressure on the brain.
