Lateral Ventricle
The lateral ventricles are two large, C-shaped cavities located within the cerebrum of the brain. They are part of the ventricular system, which produces and circulates cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This fluid cushions the brain, removes waste, and provides essential nutrients.
Each lateral ventricle consists of several regions, including the anterior, posterior, and inferior horns. They are connected to the third ventricle through the interventricular foramen, allowing for the flow of CSF. The proper functioning of the lateral ventricles is crucial for maintaining brain health and overall neurological function.
