Laplap
Laplap is a traditional dish from the islands of Vanuatu, made primarily from grated root vegetables, such as taro or yam. The grated vegetables are mixed with coconut milk and often wrapped in banana leaves before being cooked in an underground oven, known as a mumu. This cooking method gives Laplap a unique flavor and texture.
Laplap can be served with various accompaniments, including meat or fish, and is often enjoyed during special occasions and celebrations. It is a staple food in many Melanesian cultures and reflects the rich culinary heritage of the region.
