Laodicea
Laodicea was an ancient city located in what is now southwestern Turkey. It was founded in the 3rd century BCE and became a significant center for trade, culture, and finance. The city was known for its wealth, advanced banking system, and production of textiles, particularly black wool.
In addition to its economic importance, Laodicea was also notable for its medical school, which specialized in eye treatments. The city is mentioned in the Bible in the Book of Revelation, where it is described as being "lukewarm" in faith, symbolizing a lack of commitment among its inhabitants.
