Colossae
Colossae was an ancient city located in the region of Phrygia in modern-day Turkey. It was situated near the banks of the Lycus River and was known for its wool production and trade. The city was part of a triad of cities, including Laodicea and Hierapolis, which were all important centers in the area during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
The city is most famously mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible, specifically in the Epistle to the Colossians, written by the Apostle Paul. Although it was once a thriving city, Colossae declined in importance over the centuries and was eventually abandoned, leaving behind ruins that reflect its historical significance.
