Lao Royal Family
The Lao Royal Family was the ruling dynasty of Laos until the monarchy was abolished in 1975. The family traces its lineage back to the Kingdom of Lan Xang, which was established in the 14th century. The last king, King Savang Vatthana, ruled from 1959 until the monarchy's end, when the Lao People's Democratic Republic was established.
The royal family played a significant role in the history and culture of Laos, influencing politics, religion, and social structures. After the monarchy's fall, many members of the family went into exile, while others faced persecution. Today, the legacy of the Lao royal family remains a topic of interest in Lao history.
