Langue D'Oc
Langue D'Oc is a group of Romance languages spoken primarily in the southern regions of France, known as Occitania. It includes several dialects, such as Provençal, Languedocien, and Gascon. The term "Oc" refers to the word for "yes" in these languages, distinguishing them from Langue d'oïl, spoken in northern France.
Historically, Langue D'Oc was the language of the Troubadours, medieval poets who composed lyrical poetry in the 11th to 13th centuries. Although its use has declined, efforts to revive and promote Occitan culture and language continue today, with educational programs and cultural events aimed at preserving this linguistic heritage.
