Lake Nasser
Lake Nasser is a large artificial lake located in southern Egypt, created by the construction of the Aswan High Dam on the Nile River. It stretches approximately 500 kilometers (310 miles) and covers an area of about 5,250 square kilometers (2,030 square miles). The lake plays a crucial role in irrigation and hydroelectric power generation.
The lake is named after Gamal Abdel Nasser, the former President of Egypt, who oversaw the dam's construction. It is also a significant site for fishing and tourism, attracting visitors interested in its unique ecosystem and historical sites, including the submerged temples of Abu Simbel.
