Lake Manasarovar
Lake Manasarovar is a sacred lake located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, near the base of Mount Kailash. It is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world, situated at an elevation of about 4,590 meters (15,060 feet). The lake is considered holy by several religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and is a popular pilgrimage site for devotees.
The lake has a unique shape resembling a lotus flower and covers an area of approximately 320 square kilometers (124 square miles). Its waters are believed to have purifying properties, and many pilgrims undertake the journey to bathe in its sacred waters and perform rituals.
