Lagrange Point 5
Lagrange Point 5, or L5, is one of five specific points in space where the gravitational forces of two large bodies, like the Earth and the Moon, create a stable location for smaller objects. At L5, an object can maintain a stable position relative to the two larger bodies, making it an ideal spot for satellites or space stations.
L5 is located about 60 degrees behind the Moon in its orbit around the Earth. This point is part of the Lagrange Points concept, named after the mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange, who identified these unique positions in the 18th century.
