Labrum
The labrum is a fibrocartilaginous structure found in various joints of the body, including the shoulder and hip. It serves to deepen the socket of the joint, providing stability and support. The labrum helps to cushion the joint and allows for a greater range of motion.
In the shoulder, the labrum is known as the glenoid labrum, while in the hip, it is referred to as the acetabular labrum. Injuries to the labrum can lead to pain, instability, and decreased mobility, often requiring medical evaluation and treatment.
