Glenoid Labrum
The glenoid labrum is a fibrocartilaginous structure located in the shoulder joint. It surrounds the glenoid cavity of the scapula, deepening the socket and providing stability to the joint. This structure helps to secure the head of the humerus in place, allowing for a wide range of motion while minimizing the risk of dislocation.
Injuries to the glenoid labrum, such as tears, can occur due to trauma or repetitive overhead activities. Symptoms may include pain, instability, and a decreased range of motion in the shoulder. Treatment options often involve physical therapy, medication, or, in severe cases, surgical intervention to repair the damaged labrum.
