La Mezquita
La Mezquita, also known as the Great Mosque of Córdoba, is a historic mosque-cathedral located in Córdoba, Spain. Originally built in the 8th century, it served as a place of worship for Muslims during the Islamic rule in the Iberian Peninsula. The structure is renowned for its stunning architecture, featuring a forest of columns and arches, intricate mosaics, and a large prayer hall.
After the Christian Reconquista in the 13th century, La Mezquita was converted into a cathedral. Despite this transformation, many of its original Islamic features remain intact, making it a unique blend of Islamic and Christian architectural styles. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination.
