LHS 1140
LHS 1140 is a red dwarf star located approximately 40 light-years away from Earth in the constellation of Centaurus. It is classified as an M-type star, which means it is cooler and smaller than our Sun. LHS 1140 is of particular interest to astronomers because it hosts at least two known exoplanets.
One of these exoplanets, known as LHS 1140 b, is a super-Earth that lies within the star's habitable zone, where conditions might allow for liquid water. This makes LHS 1140 a valuable target for studying the potential for life beyond our solar system.
