LGM-30 Minuteman II
The LGM-30 Minuteman II is an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed by the United States during the Cold War. It was designed to deliver nuclear warheads over long distances, with a range of approximately 8,000 miles. The Minuteman II was an upgrade from the earlier Minuteman I, featuring improved accuracy and payload capacity.
Introduced in the early 1960s, the Minuteman II was part of the U.S. strategic deterrent force, aimed at countering threats from the Soviet Union. It was deployed in underground silos, allowing for rapid launch capabilities. The missile was eventually replaced by the more advanced LGM-118 Peacekeeper system in the 1980s.
