LGM-30 Minuteman III
The LGM-30 Minuteman III is an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed by the United States during the Cold War. It is designed to deliver nuclear warheads over long distances, with a range of approximately 8,000 miles. The missile is launched from silos and can carry multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs), allowing it to strike several targets simultaneously.
First deployed in 1970, the Minuteman III is part of the U.S. nuclear triad, which includes submarines and strategic bombers. It has undergone several upgrades to enhance its accuracy, reliability, and survivability, ensuring its role in national defense remains effective.
