LASEK
LASEK (Laser-Assisted Sub-Epithelial Keratectomy) is a type of eye surgery used to correct vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It combines techniques from both LASIK and PRK, using a laser to reshape the cornea, which is the clear front part of the eye. During the procedure, a thin layer of the cornea's surface is lifted, and the underlying tissue is reshaped with a laser.
After the reshaping, the surface layer is repositioned, allowing for a smoother recovery compared to traditional methods. LASEK is often recommended for patients with thinner corneas or those who may not be suitable candidates for LASIK. The recovery time can vary, but many patients experience improved vision within a few days.
