Kurdish regions
The Kurdish regions, often referred to as Kurdistan, are areas primarily inhabited by the Kurdish people, an ethnic group with their own distinct language and culture. These regions span across four countries: Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria. Each country has a significant Kurdish population, with varying degrees of autonomy and political representation.
In Iraq, the Kurdistan Region has its own government and is recognized as an autonomous region. In Turkey and Iran, Kurds have faced challenges regarding their cultural rights and political representation. The situation in Syria has evolved, especially during the Syrian Civil War, leading to the establishment of Kurdish-led administrations in some areas.
